I chose the medium of photography as a tool to capture the essence of the person or place. I create images to depict the subject as they are remembered in the mind. Not posed or unnatural, but as a window into the intimate world of the subject.” Jill Brown is a member of Professional Photographers of America.

Quiet Time

( Trying out some new Sharpening Technique and Actions in PS )

This time of year gives me an opportunity to try out new equipment and techniques. Lately I've been trying some new tricks in PS: softening, sharpening, color, etc. It's a great time to spend time with family, friends and just to regroup.

Allen Family Portraits

Location: Allen Home
Date: December 17, 2008

It's always great to take photos in some one's home. The client finds it much more relaxing and if an outfit is not working, make-up or hair needs to be touched up or some added last minute item is to be added to the photo shoot ... it's all right there.

The Gina is one of my best friends and when she asked me to photography her family for their Christmas cards, how could I say no! They are a fun group of people, always cutting up and having a great time.

Johnson Family Portraits

Location: Des Moines Botanical Center
Date: December 13, 2008

The Des Moines Botanical Center is always a great place to shoot. The scenery is beautiful and the lighting is fantastic! I would do a shoot here any day. It is a great place to go for those who want "outdoor" photographs on a very cold, Iowa winter day.

The Johnson family was great. The kids were very photogenic and the family was awesome to be with. They were naturals in front of the camera! Lots of smiles and easy going. I hope I get to take photos of this family again soon!

Simply...

I love to use photography to capture the essence of the person or place and create images to depict the subject as they are remembered in the mind. Not posed or unnatural, but as a window into the intimate world of the subject.

I want my images to be warm, intimate, loving and real. My desire is that the photographs I take will be the ones that are tucked into a locket, the ones in between the page of your favorite book or the ones in the frame by your bed so that you can still say "good-night" to your loved one when they are far away...
