Jill uses both medium format film cameras and digital formats to create her images. This is how the artist describes her work:
“My work is a reflection of everyday life and places. I chose the medium of photography as a tool to capture the essence of the person or place. I create images to depict the subject as they are remembered in the mind. Not posed or unnatural, but as a window into the intimate world of the subject.”

Kirsten and Mark met me at Greenwood Park behind the Art Center in Des Moines for their engagement session. They brought their sweet little black lab - who was a hoot! She was running and fetching and jumping in the water and just having herself a grand time.
It was a great session and I'm really looking forward to Kirsten and Mark's wedding in November!
It turned out to be a BeAuTiFuL day at the Rose Garden. Miss Ashlyn was just the perfect little model. She knew just which way to look and just which way to stand... effortless for me! She absolutely made me crack up when I brought out my little Ansco camera for her to play with. At first she wasn't quite sure how to look through the thing, but once she got it she was wandering around the Rose Garden watching where she was going through the camera lens. HiLaRiOuS!
It was just a wonderful time. Here are a few of my favorites:
This was the fastest portrait shoot I think I've ever done. From start to finish - 45 minutes at max! Wow!
We took the kids out to the Rose Garden behind the Des Moines Art Center. The roses were not in bloom yet, but it was green. The kids had fun climbing on the limestone egg structures and playing under the trees. Adorable kiddos, don't you think? Poor little sis took a tumble the day before the portrait shoot and ended up with a scratch on her cheek. I still think that she was precious.
